Build a LinkedIn boolean search

Titles, keywords and exclusions in. A clean boolean string and a search link out.

Any of these. One per line or comma.

Any of these, anywhere on the profile or post.

Profiles or posts mentioning these are dropped.

This runs in your browser.

Search string

Add a title or keyword on the left.

How LinkedIn reads the string

The same rules apply in the main search bar, Sales Navigator and Recruiter.

Quotes for phrases

"head of sales" matches the phrase. Without quotes it matches profiles with those words anywhere.

OR inside brackets

(CEO OR founder) keeps the alternatives together so the AND after it applies to the whole group.

NOT to disqualify

NOT recruiter drops anyone who mentions it. Use it for the headlines that are never buyers.

Capitals only

AND, OR and NOT must be uppercase. Lowercase ones are searched as ordinary words.

Questions

Does LinkedIn support boolean search?+

Yes, in the main search bar and in Sales Navigator and Recruiter. It understands quoted phrases, AND, OR, NOT and brackets. The operators must be in capitals: a lowercase "or" is searched as a word.

Does LinkedIn support wildcards like manag*?+

No. LinkedIn ignores * and ?, so list the variants instead: manager, management, "managing director".

Where do I paste the title-only string?+

In Sales Navigator’s Current job title filter, or the Title field under All filters in the free search. It keeps the match to the title rather than anywhere on the profile.

Why search posts as well as people?+

A people search finds everyone with the right title. A posts search, sorted by latest, finds the ones writing about the problem this week, which are the people most likely to reply.

Stop re-running the same search.

A rivomi agent watches your searches a few times a day, scores everyone new against your segment and tells you why each one fits.
